The Role of the Personal Assistant – Virtual



The role of the Personal Assistant can be complex, varied and challenging, particularly when new to the role. This course covers the role and skills required by a PA, how to communicate, network and influence others, different management styles and skills in the business environment, time management, organising meetings and setting goals.

At the end of this course you will be able to: 

  • Define the role and skills required of an effective PA and appreciate the value you add to your organisation
  • Identify strategies to manage the challenges, pressures and demands of your profession
  • Communicate, network and influence others
  • Develop your ability to communicate assertively
  • Recognise different management styles and how to respond to them to create successful working relationships
  • Employ the most up to date practices for effective time management, goal setting and organisation including diary management and facilitating meetings
  • Share best practice with your fellow learners
  • Identify strategies and resources to proactively progress in your career


This training course is a Unit of the Ofqual regulated qualification SFJ Awards Level 3 Award in Professional PA & Administration Skills.

Following attendance at this training day, members can upgrade to the full qualification for an additional £1,845 plus VAT. You will need to complete a written assignment demonstrating your understanding and application of learning gained at “The Role of the Personal Assistant” then attend a further 4 one day training Units over the course of 9-12 months with written assignments after each training day attendance.

Event dates, sessions, venues, and postponement:

We reserve the right to alter event dates, venues and/or location where necessary without liability, as per the force majeure above.

We will endeavour to give delegates as much notice as possible of any such change via the attendee’s email address provided at time of booking.

We cannot offer refunds and are not be liable for any other costs incurred including (for example) travel charges or any consequential damages, even if we were advised of these costs.

The Executive & Personal Assistants Association Ltd reserve the right to change speakers or sessions without prior notification. The most up to date changes to the programme will be found on the event page.

Photography & Filming:

There may be a professional photographer and/or video production taking place during the Event which may be used at a later date for promotional and other uses. Delegates who do not wish to be filmed or recorded should advise the Organisers by email in good time before the Event, by emailing

The Executive & Personal Assistants Association Ltd does not accept responsibility for attendees’ personal belongings or valuables, for example, laptops or communications devices, brought to courses. These always remain the responsibility of the individual attendees during the training session.

The Executive & Personal Assistants Association Ltd reserves the right to remove any attendee from the course, should their behaviour be deemed inappropriate. In such event, no refund of travel costs or accommodation or other costs will be made.
