Growth and confidence go hand in hand when you are trying to chart a successful assistant career. Confidence is a topic of which assistants regularly mention as something that stops you from asking for that pay rise, asking for training, putting yourself forward for projects or promotion and generally feeling satisfied with your career.
Many assistants in the UK have suggested recently they are not sure where they want their career to go. Some have thought it may be time to leave the profession entirely? Or perhaps you might just be feeling generally flat about work and not energised or inspired by your day-to-day duties?
This day will be action packed, fast paced with lots of speakers from a variety of backgrounds and several bosses too! All of the sessions will give you some grounded advice, along with some practical hints and tips to help you get to where you want to be.
The last few years have been tough. A global pandemic with lockdowns and restrictions, a cost-of-living crisis, rail strikes and chaos around every other corner. We also now have a possible recession looming too.
Lots of events for assistants are financially not viable, especially now in these economically tough times. Victoria is a multi-award winning Executive Assistant and qualified trainer and coach.
She is extremely passionate about the role of the EA and actively encourages it as a truly fantastic career choice, after experiencing an extraordinary career journey herself.
Victoria has worked across numerous sectors during her 20 year career, which includes FTSE, Third Sector and Financial Services.
In 2016 Victoria opened EPAA, in order to provide a professional voice for EAs and PAs across the United Kingdom. With topical campaigns and fast energy, she has worked tirelessly since the age of 20 to protect the long term future of the UK profession.
Abigail supports high achieving women reclaim their personal life and to alleviate their headspace of all things that keep them awake at night and interrupt them throughout the day. She and her team brings the true essence of having a personal assistant alive, tailoring their support to each person.
Poppins PA has been created from a place of longing and for wanting each woman to realise why they do what they do, ensuring these women are supported as individuals in order for them to show up as their best selves personally to their family and friends AND professionally, in order to still maintain their careers.
Abigail has scooped up Mary Poppins and brought her into the modern day.
Anel is a former award-winning C-Level Assistant and a qualified Results Based Coach. She is a solopreneur who is passionate about helping others achieve their goals, manage their time and increase their confidence. She has 15 years’ experience in the corporate world has been working in the training sphere since 2009 and became a full-time facilitator and small business owner five years ago, as demand for her programmes and services grew.
She has worked with several premium companies across the globe for in-house training interventions and performance coaching namely SAP North America, HSBC, Stanlib, Exxaro, MTN, Sanlam, Oppenheimer Group, Telkom South Africa, Discovery as well as various forums and training companies around the world.
She has worked with audiences as large as 2000 from 24 different countries and this has given her a global view on her subject matter. She has participated in events hosted in Uganda, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Zanzibar, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, France, England, Scotland and the United States. Her travels have exposed her to delegates and clients from all over the world, different accents, backgrounds, cultures and industries.
She has a special passion for female empowerment, executive assistants technical training and small business development with regards to digital skills and marketing.
April has been an EA for over 10 years – working her way up from admin assistant to EA to the Chief Medical Officer for Northamptonshire Integrated Care System (ICS). Her career has primarily been within the public sector including the NHS, probation service and police force largely working at C-suite level.
April is passionate about the value an EA can bring to executives and is dedicated to working in partnership with executives supporting them to be the best they can be.
Vanessa is one of the UK’s most well-networked women and has provided keynotes on on a variety of career related topics for over 500 companies worldwide. Vanessa is also one of the UK’s most prominent figures in gender equality and often provides guidance and consultancy to both government and corporate organisations who are seeking to attract, develop and retain their female talent. Vanessa was awarded her OBE in June 2018 for her services to women and the economy.
At the height of her successful 25 year career in the financial services, Vanessa launched the award winning WeAreTheCity.com in 2008 as a vehicle to help women progress in their careers. WeAreTheCity.com now has over 120,000 members and provides resources/conferences/awards/jobs to women across the UK. Vanessa is the also the -founder of UK wide diversity forum Gender Networks. Gender Networks (formerly The Network of Networks) brings together diversity leaders from 85 cross sector firms to share best practice on a quarterly basis.
Vanessa is also the author of the book “Heels of Steel: Surviving and Thriving in the Corporate World” which tracks her career and shares 13 chapters of tips to succeed in the workplace.
Over the past ten years, she has been named Women in Banking & Finance’s Champion for Women, Financial News Top 100 Rising Star, The International Alliance for Women Top 100 Women globally & Brummells Top 30 London Entrepreneurs. In 2015 Vanessa was in GQ UK’s Top 100 Connected Women and the Evening Standard’s 1000 Most Influential Londoners. Vanessa is a regular guest on TV and radio and also sits on the Government Digital Services advisory board.
Vanessa is also the Pearly Queen of The City of London, a tradition that has been in her family for over 100 years. She is an avid charity worker and sits on the board for for Cancer Research UK as one of its Women of Influence. Vanessa also sits on the Cententary Action Group founded by Dr Helen Pankhurst.
Keynotes and workshops include The Power of Profile, The Power of Mentoring, Speed Networking, Speed Mentoring, plus her Excel your Career workshop. Vanessa is also available as a panelist, facilitator and leadership development programme host. All talks can be tailored towards specific audiences.
